Why are we here?

In 2008 I graduated with a degree in English Literature and completely fed up of writing! Two years on and I have to admit I kinda miss it. Not the deadlines or the stress, but the process of writing is one I love to hate. But what to write about? I love to read and love to talk about what I read almost more than the actual reading! So here I am with an idea to blog about all the books I read because even though my best friends are lit geeks too and I'm part of a book group, I STILL haven't got bored of talking about them! I like to think they'll be reviews, but more likely it'll be a lot of simultaneous ranting and gushing! I read rather slowly, so not sure how frequent posts will be at first, but an ulterior motive is to get me out of a reading slump. At the moment it's too much Gossip Girl and not enough Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell!

For the record my current five favourite books (or more accurately favourite series, bar one) are:

His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins, Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman, Harry Potter by J K Rowling and The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer (Don't judge me ok. You're judging me aren't you.)

Yes they're all Young Adult Fiction. I sometimes wonder if I should prefer something more "reputable", but these are the five books that have completely transported me to another world so they're staying. And anyway I hate Austen. *Waits for inevitable backlash*

Well there we go. Onwards and upwards :)

  1. I actually had to go and google Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell - now I think there is another book to add to my wish list! Just need to finish Eat Pray Love already!

I read Noughts and Crosses after you recommended it!

  2. I've only just seen your comment! Isn't it supposed to email me when people do? Strange and Norrell is loooooooong. Good, but long! It's on hiatus at the moment while I get back into reading. There'll be a new entry soon :)

To reply I had to view the blog and then comment. Is this right or is there a reply feature in the dashboard menu somewhere???
